Goodbye 2008

2008 has been a year of travelling. Specifically...between KL and Macau.

In 2008...

I became unemployed.
I started blogging again.
I ate the famed McDonald's McRib Pork Burger.
I experienced my 1st typhoon in Macau.
I completed my Carp cross-stitch project.
I visited Zhuhai...many times.
I had sea monkeys as pets and they are now in sea monkey heaven(not my fault).
I met cute baby Avi in Hong Kong =D
I cooked eggs in a hot spring.
I made my own Xmas cards.
I watched Lee Chong Wei play in the 2008 Macau Open Badminton Championship.
We celebrated Grandma's 80th birthday in Sitiawan.

Most important of all...Eric and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary =)

Well...It's time to say goodbye to 2008.
It's been a roller coaster year full of ups and downs.
Lots of decisions made and lots of happy moments(with occasional tears).
All in all...2008 wasn't too bad =)

Who's there?

When I started to blog many years back, I did it anonymously. That's because I bitch alot on my blog about people that I know. Or maybe I just didn't want people to know the real me. There is a part of myself that not many people will ever see. I guess it's the same for many people. We build certain walls around ourselves for protection...eventually, the wall is so strong we don't know how to tear it down. There are things that only a couple of people knows the whole truth, and certain things that no one else knows besides myself. Not everyone can handle the truth and not be judgemental about my character and principles. In the past, things had happened and I let the other party seek whatever pity he wants from our friends. I do not want to paint a pathetic picture of him to people we know, so I let it be. People who knows the truth will say I did the right thing, even though it's a little too late as I was hurt pretty bad in the whole crappy situation. I'm not bitter about it anymore as time does heal all wounds. But thinking back to those naive days of mine, I really do shudder in shame. But we all learn from our mistakes. I surely did.

I'm not sure if people would say I'm a private person. But I think it depends who is being asked that question. Trust is really hard to come by isn't it? But in these day and time, who the hell have time to listen to me blabbering about my problems? Everyone has tonnes of problems of their own. If anyone bothered to ask about what you did...you'll probably think the person is being nosy instead of caring!

Why did I decide not to blog anonymously on this new blog of mine? Well, I guess I do not want to hide anymore. People always have this weird perception of me that somehow baffles me. Maybe with this blog, people would get a little glimpse of the real me in cyberspace since they fail to do that in real life. But then, maybe this blog is just a way of me trying to make sense of myself.

I know a couple of people who reads my blog occasionally...they are friends of course. Makes me wonder if their perception of me changed after reading my posts. There are some people who doesn't know me personally but somehow stumbled into my blog. These new friends would probably build their perception of me based on my posts. It's a little scary as if we ever met in person, what are their expectations? I once asked a friend whether I sound the same in real life and in my blog. The answer is yes. At least I can be sure I'm not the right track and not building a cyber personality that is fake. Most of the time, I do not know who is reading my ramblings as no one leaves a comment. That is probably the only way I'll know you're reading unless of course you tell me you read my blog during yumcha sessions. It'll be nice to know who is visiting so I don't repeat stories I've blog about during yumcha or when we meet =P But it's okay even if no one is reading my blog, because I'm blogging for ME.

My First Crush...

Was a boy named Jeffrey. It started in kindergarden when I was 5 years old. We gals are never too young to notice boys =P Jeffrey was the cutest and smartest boy in my class. And in the whole kindergarden. I'm sure many other gals have a crush on him as well as he's really popular. Whenever we have to choose teams or groups, everyone wants to be on his team as he's pretty athletic as well. As for me, I always played with him during recess time. Can't blame a gal for trying to get some attention =P

We were in the same class for 2 years of kindergarden and it broke my heart when I found out we are going to different primary schools after graduating kindy. I was sad and depressed, and yet I didn't let him know how I feel. Still shy mar.

As fate would have it, Mum and Dad decided that the school I was going to is not good enough so they put in a transfer request for a better school...Jeffrey's school =D I guess my crush was given another chance to blossom. Again, we ended up in the same class, this time for 3 years until I moved to Subang Jaya. The older we got, he became cuter and smarter. From then onwards, I always have a crush on the smartest boy in class. He could be a nerd or a geek, but I can't help but admire his mind. I guess intelligence is a huge turn on for me.

Back to Jeffrey. After we moved to Subang, obviously I lost touch with him. The only one time we spoke on the phone was when he called me to ask the answer for some math homework in Standard 3. I was jumping up and down while clutching the phone so tight until Mum thought I was going nuts. I have no idea where he got my phone number from and come on lar, he is the smartest person in class okay...so why is he asking me for answers? As expected...I was on cloud nine for many days after that call =)

Many many crushes and years later...I met Jeffrey again. He happened to be my course mate's boyfriend. The memories I hold so dear to me kinda got shattered because he wasn't as cute as I remembered him to be. He might still be as smart but the cuteness is gone. Okay...I know it's shallow to think that way but I do have this perfect image of him in my mind.

So, that was my first crush and it lasted for 5 years. Not bad for puppy love huh?

That was then

I'm now sitting in McDonalds in SS15 waiting for Mum who has a visit with the dentist. It's lunch time and I'm looking at so many people who are in office wear. I know it sounds crazy but I miss those times when I was one of those "people". People who makes lunch appointments through our office emails and messenger. It's funny how we could be sitting only a few feet away from each other but we still used our computers to communicate for simple things such as making a lunch date.

I can't say going to work is all bad...the worst thing about working would be the rush hour traffic and also the never enough salary at the end of the month...ohh...not forgetting the insane workload sometimes. But I actually like going to the office. I like meeting up with colleagues who are rascals and make me laugh everyday. They started out as colleagues and fast became friends. As we all know, in any corporate office there are a variety of characters we have to come in contact with everyday. But it's so fun to have some really crazy, funny and nutty people around. It makes going to the office something I look forward too, even on a Monday =D

People envy me because Eric is able to support me and I do not have to work. Little do they know, I envy them too.
