It's not my fault...it's the damn weather.

Don't worry, we have ideas on how to recycle the small aquarium =P

Slowly but surely

I gave myself last weekend as the deadline to finish my cross-stitch project but that got delayed. I've been procrastinating as it's a real pain stitching the scales. So I'm doing it slowly and stitch a little each day when I'm in the mood. Most of the time, I stitch late at night while watching Rachel Ray and Martha Steward on tv. I think I'm addicted to these talk shows. What so fascinating about them? Well, Rachel deals with a lot of fun issues such as getting your man to wear clothes that you want them to wear while Martha does a lot of crafty stuffs. Both of them have different styles but I enjoy watching them both. I sound like a "si lai" (housewife aunty) but seriously...try watching one episode of these talk shows and I'm sure you'll be hooked too! As I would still be in la-la land when the shows are aired on NTV7 in the morning, I catch the reruns at night. Rachel Ray comes on at 1am followed by Martha at 2am. So I go to bed at 3am =D Yeah I know...my life is really boring.

Oh yeah...just a little update on my poor poor sea monkeys who are at Eric's mercy in Macau. Apparently, there's a sole survivor. But according to my dear hubby, soon there will be none. I should have taken pics of the sea monkeys balls before I left when I still have the chance. As they say, opportunities only come knocking once.

Lunch @ Honolulu

Mum and I had lunch at Honolulu today. Unfortunately, it's not in beautiful Hawaii. This Honolulu Cafe is just down the street from our apartment. It was raining heavily and we couldn't get to anywhere else, so we decided on Honolulu. We've been there many times before but only for drinks and snacks. They had a set lunch thing going on, so we ordered one set of Curry Chicken and Rice set lunch which came with a bowl of soup and coffee or tea. As usually the food portion in Macau is quite large, we refrained from ordering 2 sets, instead, Mum ordered a pork chop bun to go with our curry.

A big bowl of curry chicken. It's not too bad actually, just lack the fragrant curry smell that we have back home. And also this curry is salty instead of spicy.

Honolulu ain't a bad place to have a meal. It's only bout RM20 for the set lunch and everyday they have a different set lunch menu. On a hot hot day, an ice milk tea or lemon coke at Honolulu will cool you down nicely. Best of all, it's less than a minute walk away!

On a side note, I'm sad to inform that our sea monkeys are dying. Okay, some are already dead. For a few days. I can see their dead lifeless and black carcass at the bottom of the container. Sea monkeys are guaranteed to live for 2 years and mine died so soon. What will happen if I ever have another puppy?

Typhoon Hagupit & Monkey Play

My sea monkeys seemed to be surviving and no casualty yet *cross fingers*. The growth food I fed them are still abundant in the small tank making the water a little murky, but that is expected according to the Sea Monkey official website. The water will be clear again after they finish eating it.

Enough bout sea monkeys for today. Everyone in Macau is busy as a bee getting ready for Typhoon Hagupit. Tropical cyclone signal 3 is hoisted in Hong Kong and only signal 1 in Macau. Signal No.1 is just asking the people to be on standby while signal 3 means winds with mean speeds of 41 to 62 kilometres per hour are expected. Signal 8 is expected around dusk today by the Hong Kong Observatory. It seems that Hong Kong will be hit worst by the typhoon compared to Macau.

This typhoon is expected to bring strong winds and rain starting this afternoon according to the weather forecast. Found this cool website that tells us the country that named the typhoon (I guess it's an honour naming it?), how to pronounce the name properly (such as Mitag pronounced as ME-tok?) and last but not least, the meaning of the name. Malaysia contributed the typhoon name "nangka" -_- Of all things, they chose "nangka".

Back to Hagupit, it's pronounced as HA-GOO-PEET(no rocket science here, but I'm sure nangka is way easier). Hagupit means lash or flog.

It'll be my first typhoon experience so I'm a little excited. Mum was at the market this morning as she joins all the other aunties grabbing foodstuffs as everyone expected to stay indoors when the typhoon hits. The air is really still outside and temperature is at 31 degrees at the moment, it could be the calm before the storm.

Standby signal No.1 in Macau has been replaced by signal No.3 and it has started to rain slightly here with slow winds.

Feeding the Sea Monkeys

My sea monkeys have really grown up! They look a little creepy now as I can see they have tails, small whiskers and lots and lots of erm...mini small legs? Maybe that's what helps them to swim so fast. Not sure how do they resemble a monkey -_-

This small packet of Growth Food should be enough for a year's feeding.

They seemed to grow at an alarming rate even before I started feeding them. Hopefully the growth food doesn't make them into giants or even more creepy looking. I think there are baby sea monkeys still hatching as I can see some really small ones swimming around. I read that they mate as well...can't imagine how it looks like. Hope my sea monkeys are not camera shy as they'll be starring in their own mini-homemade porn soon ;P

A Day of Walking

Yesterday was a fun day filled with lots of walking in a hot and humid weather. Brought How Khang for a day tour of Macau which started at the famed Venetian. That place still awed me with it's wonderful atmosphere and grandeur. We came across a Glass Blowing demonstration which seems pretty interesting for a little while. After 15 minutes of not seeing much glass blowing, we got bored and left to look for lunch. Lunch at the Festivita Foodcourt is pretty good.

The most exciting part of this visit to Venetian is my 1st celebrity encounter. How Khang and I saw Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi with Patrick Tze as they were leaving the hotel. We didn't manage to take any pics, much less an autograph as they walked past us so fast! Okay, it also took us a moment to register that it's really them. I never expected to see any celebrities walking around Macau like ordinary people, thought they'll at least have bodyguards clearing the way for them like those in Malaysia. Cecilia is really pretty in person, and not much could be said about Patrick but Lucas is really cute.

Yoke Liang happened to be in Macau yesterday as well so we met up and continue our exploration of Macau together. Despite the scorching heat, both of them kept stopping in the hot sun and snapping away on their cameras.

Macau celebrated Mid Autumn Festival also known as Mooncake Festival yesterday. Streets and shops were decorated with colourful lanterns everywhere we went.

Now, an update on the sea monkeys. I can see them swimming around in the small aquarium. They grow pretty fast actually as just a day before, they look like dust! Instruction says to feed them only on the 5th day.

24 hours passed and the eggs are released into the purified water. Not sure if anything is happening in that little container. Maybe my eyesight ain't too reliable as all I can see are some specks which looks like powder floating around in there. Or maybe it could be dust. It's very dusty here.

Monkey Business

So it's been months since my first post. It's obvious that I've yet to cook anything! I'm now back in Macau and the weather is super hot and humid. Won't be leaving the house pretty often until the weather cools down a little.

Anyways, I'm having monkeys as pets! Sea Monkeys that is. We bought a starter pack back in Sunway Pyramid and decided to hatch them now. I hope I'm able to make my sea monkeys come to life. All my previous pets met with untimely end. I'm going to keep track of my progress here and hope after a few days I'll have some new pets to amuse myself with.

Pack comes with a container, instructions, 3 small packs labelled appropriately and a small spoon to feed my soon to hatch baby monkeys.

Have prepared the water with Step 1 : Puryfying the water.

Now the container with my purified water is sitting on top of the fridge. I have to wait at least 24 hours before I could put the sea monkey eggs in the water to hatch. Hopefully I'll be successful in having pets this time. I've already made one mistake so far...I used unboiled tap water when I should've used bottled water. Well..lesson learnt. Goodluck monkeys =)
