Original Bootcamp Malaysia : Day 1

I survived...just barely.
Which just goes to show I have no stamina whatsoever.

I got up at 5am. after only sleeping for 2 hours.
Couldn't sleep as my normal sleeping hours are from 4am till 1pm =P
Was so gung-ho in the wee hours of the morning.
Changed into my workout attire, packed my bag, went downstairs and had a piece of toast.

Then I woke Mum up as she wanted to go exercise as well.
Dropped Mum off at the MPSJ field and headed off to look for Padang Astaka.
Wasn't too hard to find and I got there before 6.30am.
Got to know a few old and new recruits while waiting.
After today, I'm not sure why there are any old recuits.
Maybe I'll get addicted to all this torturing and come back next month as an old recruit as well?
Yeah, I know...just concentrate on getting through this month first O_o

Warm up itself was more than any kind of exercise I did in the past year.
Then we were paired up and that's when the assessment starts.
Run 400m and then do 10 push-ups on toes, 10 jumping move(I can't remember what's it called) and then 10 sit-ups.
Do the cycle above 3 times.
After I finished my 2nd 400m, I was getting super dizzy and felt like I was going to collaspe and never wake up again.
I also felt like puking.
Lucky I didn't. If not will be damn paiseh.
So I just plop down on the ground exhausted.
That's when my hands and feet started to feel numb.
I had trouble breathing and thank God there was a guy who gave me some of his chilled water.
Tasted like heaven when one feels like they're half way into hell.
Had to force myself from gulping down all his wonderfully chilled water.
It'll be even more paiseh if I finish people's water right?
And right this moment, I can't even recall what he looked like. Geez.

After all that drama, we had to do another 1600meter.
That's 8x200m. Our track was only a 200m circle.
I could only manage to walk out this part of the Bootcamp.
And half way through, I had Suanie(she's an old recruit) striding next to me encouragingly.
We did a walk and jog thingy together.
It's a walk to the next cone, then jog to the next one.
Good stategy, but alas, I couldn't make it.
Told Suanie to go on without me.
Didn't want her to score a bad time because of me dragging her down.
In the end, I only managed 7x200m.
Most of it by walking =P

Obviously, I failed miserably at my assessment.
Didn't even complete the course lar.
Kinda disappointed but it's to be expected.
I'm so out of shape since I've had a pretty good and laid back lifestyle which has nothing to do with any exercising.
Have been told that many recruits will quit after the 1st day.
And later on, there will be drop outs.
I'm hoping to finish the whole bootcamp even if it kills me.
Maybe I'm being a little dramatic.
But it's true that it's not easy. It was freaking hardcore.
No matter how mentally prepared I was for bootcamp, I felt like giving up so many times in that one hour.
The instructors were great though.
Extremely encouraging but still made us do gruelling workouts.
One even stayed next to me for a whole 200m and constantly throwing encourangement my way to keep me going.
I just hope they don't look at my assessment and laugh.
It's pathetic. Even I admit that.

My muscles are starting to hurt.
Mentally, it feels good that I've taken the first step to be healthier.
Physically, I'm half dead. Literally.
Oh...Thursday will be here way too soon.

Checklist

I'm having butterflies in my stomach.
Going to start bootcamp tomorrow morning.
I just hope to God I don't lose my way there.
I've got the directions and it seems simple enough...*cross fingers*

This is my Bootcamp Checklist

1. Sports bra is a must though I left my pink Nike one in Macau. No idea why I brought it there in the first place -_-

2. A spare t-shirt to change into after bootcamp in case I'm too dirty to get into my car.

3. Water for drinking.

4. Wet wipes just in case.

5. Dettol anticeptic cream for cuts and graces. Oh..band aid too. I'm super clumsy.

6. Set my alarm clock. No snoozing.

7. Loads of Determination to survive my first day.

8. Take off all jewelleries.

I'm quite nervous to be honest.
Haven't done something like this before.
And it's so freaking early in the morning.
It's still going to be dark when I leave the house.
Gotta sleep early tonight so I don't look like a zombie and scare everyone at bootcamp.
My oh my...less than 12 hours to go.

Original Bootcamp Malaysia

So....I signup for bootcamp.
Yup...The Original Bootcamp.

"Now it’s Malaysia’s turn to experience the fitness revolution that’s taking the world by storm.

A military inspired, outdoor group personal training program that utilises discipline based motivational techniques, Corps Training has been scientifically designed to achieve serious results, seriously fast, no matter what their current fitness level.

In its basic form, CORPSTRAINING consists of three, 60 minute sessions each week, for four weeks. The program begins with a Benchmark Workout which allows your instructors to not only judge your current strengths and weaknesses, but to place you into sections with other Recruits of an equivalent fitness level to yourself. By placing you into these sections, your individual Section Commander can ensure that you are continually challenged, without asking more of you then you are physically able.

As the program progresses, each session increases in intensity, in order to ensure that you are constantly improving. Be aware, CORPSTRAINING is definitely no walk in the park, but we guarantee that it achieve serious results, seriously fast. "

It was a crazy spur of the moment decision.

Read about in the The Star and I thought to myself..."Why not?" (I've since came up with a list of 'why nots')
I tried to get a couple of friends to join me in my crazy idea, they cleverly turned me down.
I did some reseach online on the bootcamp.
Seems to have some pretty good testimonials and they even have a page on Facebook.
Gave it some thoughts.
And whether I could get up at 6am three times a week...and get 'tortured'
Getting up at 6am is torture enough for me.
And then...I did it.
I enrolled.
Then it hit me...
What have I done? Am I crazy? I'm so not going to survive this!

What's done is done.
I'm glad I made the plunge.
I need a challenge and to prove to myself that I can do it.
Even when it scares the hell out of me.
So I'm going to be optimistic about bootcamp.
I've paid for it and there's no point in being a coward now.
Gotta psyche myself up for my 1st day on Tuesday.
I know what to expect from my body since it's been pampered and not working out at all.
Muscle soreness and maybe some bruises by the end of day 1.
I just hope I don't trip and fall flat on my nose.
It'll be super embarassing.

What I expect to gain from Bootcamp
1. Fun...fun and more fun!
2. Make some new friends.
3. Lost some weight.
4. Results from No. 3 should make my body hotter ;P

I shall be monitoring my weight and body measurements while I'm in bootcamp.
Though one important fact should be made known...Muscle weighs more than Fat!
So if the scale seems to be tipping  the wrong way...it's just muscles!!!

To be honest, I'm excited and scared at the same time.
My goal at the moment...survive 1 month of bootcamp
