Knitting Craze

One day while shopping in Zhuhai, I came across a stall selling knitted scarfs. Since it's winter now, scarfs make a pretty fashion addition to any outfit.

Since I didn't fancy any of the ready knitted ones on sale, I decided to buy the yarn I wanted and knit it myself!

Got myself a ball of yarn and the gal manning the stall taught me how to knit it.

It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. So I finished knitting my first scarf on the same day.

First scarf I knitted(greyish one in the pic) is for Eric. It's to keep him warm and fuzzy during cold winter days. Once I started knitting...I can't stop. So I knitted him a brown one as well to match his jacket =)

Knitting can be so addictive...just like cross stitching. See how many scarfs I've knitted in just a week?

The soft furry balls come in two sizes. The purple ones only about half the size of the blue ones. Both the scarfs are birthday presents.

This blue one is a for my cousin Melissa who is doing her medical degree in freezing Russia. I hope she likes it.

I've still got two more balls of yarn to knit into scarfs. Mum chose the black one and the pink one is for me.

Can't believe how much I enjoy knitting =) I'm hoping to learn how to knit a sweater someday.

This year, friends and family will be getting knitted scarfs as presents.

I'm not dumb...I know Malaysia is too hot for scarfs. But it might just come in handy for trips to cooler countries or Genting Highlands =P

Babies Guppies!

Well...seems like the alpha male guppy is doing his job...at lightning fast speed!

It all started yesterday when I was making sure the guppies ain't suffering in the small aquarium when two little black eyes stared back at me...and zoomed all over the place.

Suddenly...we are proud parents of a guppy baby. Before we had time to celebrate...we spotted another one hiding in the corner...and another...and another.

We then decided to separate the babies from it's mother (yes..I know it's cruel but the adults were trying to eat the babies okay) and put them in a glass for the night.

Before we got into bed last night...the mother guppy squeezed out a few more babies.

This morning...when we got up..a couple more babies appeared.

So in total...we have 8 guppy babies to look after now.

The time had come sooner rather than later...we bought a new home for the adults and moved the babies into the sea monkey's aquarium.

Alpha male, wife and mistress in their new RM5 fish bowl.

Can you see the guppy babies?
Don't the babies look like "ikan bilis"(anchovies)?

See if you can spot all eight babies?

Well...I'm glad we got some guppy babies now.

If any of the adults meet with an untimely death(cross fingers)...we have ready replacements =P

Yippie Guppies!

Despite the disaster with our poor departed Sea Monkeys whose short life is documented here, Eric wanted some new pets and instead of getting a puppy, we got some guppies.

Eric the ever optimist wanted a spanking new aquarium with some water grass and a pump.

I then suggested we recycle the small Sea Monkey aquarium for our guppies instead.

Come on...with my history with pets, better not invest in any new equipments for any pets until we can be sure they'll survive for more than 3 months.

Some more it's so cold in Macau. I'm quite sure the guppies are freezing their tails off now.

No matter how I tried to discourage getting new pets, Eric was adamant.

So...behold the new additions to our small family in Macau.

Sea Monkey aquarium, 3 guppies and guppies food. Told Eric no need to buy food for the guppies as I still have my Sea Monkey's food =P As usual, he gave me the "look" and here we are with some Tetra Guppy which enhances colour and growth.

Why 3 guppies? Mum just asked the same question. Coz the guppy seller told us it's best to have ONE male and two females. So typical. So now we have a male guppy with a wife and mistress -_-

It's easy to spot the male as he's the one with the colourful tail. The females look like "longkang"(drain) fish.

Ever heard that three's a crowd?

Well...it does seem a little crowded in the little aquarium. If the male guppy does his job well and we get many baby guppies...then we'll a bigger home for them.

Until then...I'm crossing my fingers that they'll still be swimming tomorrow.
